FAQ's about Sensor Faucets
Sensor Faucets FAQ
Traditional faucets run the risk of transmitting dirt and germs from the hand to the faucet when turning it on thus transmitting them back to the just washed hand when turning the faucet off. This is counter-productive. The most important advantage of a motion sensor faucet is that you can get the water to wash your hands without having to touch anything. This feature truly makes your hand wash hygienic When you shop at BathSelect you will find we carry variety of Sensor faucets that ensure energy efficiency and hygiene complimented with modern designs. Those bathroom electronic sensor faucet with proximity operation, are normally fit for Residential and Commercial use they are vandal resistant solid brass construction with single post mounting, and they operates on DC (battery) or AC permanent power, some of our sensor faucets are self-power meaning they do not need electricity or battery to run since they rely on stored energy from water flow. The sensor faucets water pressure range from 20 to 125 psi with single Inlet 15" flexible stainless steel hose with 3/8" compression fitting for spout connection while the battery Life will run for approximately 250,000 cycles for 5 years at an average of 4,000 cycles per month. The faucet comes with Plug-In AC - Includes universal low voltage plug-in power supply with 6 foot long cord. Inlet Voltage:80 - 250 VAC, 50 - 60 Hz. Outlet Voltage: 6VDC. One power supply can run up to 15 faucets and/or flush valves at one time. Hard-Wired AC - Includes universal low voltage hard-wired transformer. Inlet Voltage:80 - 250 VAC, 50 - 60 Hz. Outlet Voltage: 6VDC. One transformer can run up to 15 faucets
Sensor Faucets Main Product Features
First it helps to understand how these kinds of motion sensor touchless faucets operate. The faucet sensor sits behind the lens similar to the lens on the end of your TV remote, sending out an invisible infrared signal, and receiving that signal when it is reflected by your hands motion. Motion Sensor faucets are water resistant solenoid enclosure; durable vandal-resistant with brass body. Those faucets are ideal for residential as well as commercial high-use applications. Easy to service Integrated Strainer that protects solenoid from debris. These motion touchless sensor faucets are designed to work flawlessly and dependably year after year, saving you time, and money. Optional Purge Feature; the sensor faucet can be programmed to open at a pre-determined time after the last use to purge the faucet and water lines. Safety Timer: Helps prevent vandalism by turning off the faucet if the sensor is covered for more than 1 minute. Low Lead: Faucet contains ≤ 0.25% total lead content by weighted average.
FAQ General Questions
Where is the sensor?
The faucet sensor is located on the front of the spout just above the water outlet. The unit is self-calibrating upon startup and does not require any adjustment. However, if it needs to be adjusted - for any reason, please refer to the instruction manual.
Is the faucet sensing range adjustable!
Yes, the factory range setting is about 4"to 5" from the sensor. There are different range settings for the sensor from a short range to an extended range. Please refer to the manual installation instructions for detailed information. Please note the factory setting are appropriate for a majority of application and should not require adjustment except under rare situations.
What do the flashing lights on the spout mean?
These are the diagnostic indicators for power-up, low battery, and solenoid function. The meaning of the codes are described in the installation instructions.
Can the spray insert/aerator be serviced and/or changed!
There are three different types. The removal tool is located under crown and service a dual purpose of locking the insert in place during use. Otherwise, water pressure will be forced out of the faucet so it must be used to reinstall into the faucet when the change is complete. The timer also has a 30-second adjustment variable. Please refer to the manual for timer adjustment procedures.
Is there a trim plate available! (Single Hole Faucets)
Yes on most models base plates are available and can be specified with either a 4 " or 8" trim plate at the time of purchase. Internal components are not interchangeable. A new faucet with the correct connections would need to be ordered.
Can faucet be mounted to any sink surface!
Yes. Minimum 1 3/16" hole required to mount spout into deck.
Do units with the mixing valve supplied need backflows installed?
No. The backflows on the "mixing variation" have the backflows integral to the spout assembly.
Can I change from a standard unit to a solar or LCD version or vice-versa?
Yes. You need only order the appropriate "Crown".
What is input voltage of the sensor faucets and what type of power supply?
6.75 VDC 15. They are available in a battery or line powered variation. The battery unit will use (4)"AA" Alkaline batteries. The plugins will use a voltage adapter (90-264 VAC 50/60 Hz Input/6.75 VDC Output).
How long will the batteries last?
The expected battery life is dependent on many variables; the energy density (capacity) of the battery, the number of activations per day (low, med, high traffic), and the water supply pressure (higher pressure requires more power to activate the solenoid valve). Another factor is the efficiency of the electronics. Under worst case conditions of 8,000 cycles per month and high water pressure it is possible to realize a 5 year service life of the batteries.
Can I convert a battery unit to a plug in or vice-versa?
Yes. You can add an EFX-27 voltage adapter.
Are the batteries easy to install?
Yes. The battery holder is marked for polarity and the holder only fits into the spout one way. Once the batteries are installed into the holder simply slide the holder into the spout assembly until the batteries are locked into place.
The solenoid and/or filter of my sensing faucet needs to be serviced. Is this easy to do? Do I need to shut the water off to the faucet?
Servicing the solenoid/filters is simple and there is no need to turn the water off to the unit. Simply remove the "crown" to gain access to the solenoid and battery compartment. Remove the battery holder to gain access to the solenoid. Twist the solenoid cap (blue or green stem) counter clockwise 45-degrees and pull the cap assembly straight out of the faucet body. As the solenoid cap rotated it will shut off the water supply internally to the spout assembly. Once removed the only serviceable part to the solenoid is the filter. The solenoid itself cannot be serviced. If not working, the solenoid will need to be replaced.
How can I reset the unit?
Simply remove the battery pack on battery powered units. If unable to remove the battery pack or for plug in units please refer to the installation instructions to re-initiate start up.
How can I control the temperature of the Sensor Faucet?
There are different ways of controlling the temperature of an automatic sensor faucet with a single supply feed. Sensor faucets with temperature control built-in (double-feed) do not require any of the options below.
OPTION 1: PRE-MIX WATER FEED
If you have a pre-mix water supply, this can be fed directly to the control box. Whatever water temperature you feed to the box, the same temperature is what comes out of the tap. If you have a pre mix water supply, you won't need a thermostatic valve or a blending valve. Check BathSelect models that come with built-in thermostatic mixer temperature control s.
